Candice, Victoria’s Secret model

One of my favourite Victoria’s Secret models is the beautiful Candice Swanepoel.  She is doll-like and reminds me a little of Australian supermodel Gemma Ward.

Candice was born in South Africa, in a tiny little dorp (town) called Mooi River, about 160 kilometers from Durban.  She was discovered when she was 15 years old in a Durban flea market.  Within a year of meeting the scout, she was booking modelling jobs all across Europe.  On her website, she talks about how she had to grow up very quickly and was forced to ‘make tough decisions about her life at a young age’.  She modelled throughout Europe and during that time, met her husband, Hermann Nicoli.

Fast forward, a few years, she moved to New York City to model full-time and in 2010 she joined Victoria’s Secret and was chosen to wear the ‘fantasy bra’ in the 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.  She has appeared in the annual televised fashion show for seven consecutive years and famously opened the show in 2011.

Modelling career

Candice was walked the runway for Givenchy, Christian Dior, Chanel, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, Stella McCartney, Elie Saab, Jason Wu, Diane Von Furstenberg, Michael Kors, and Marc Jacobs.  Phew!

Finding love

Candice met her husband, Brazilian model, Hermann Nicoli at the age of 16 in Paris.  They have been together for 10 years.

Aren’t they cute together?  They are going to make very cute babies!

In March 2016, Candice announced her pregnancy on her instagram account (@angelcandices).

Pregnancy style

Candice was photographed recently in New York City, wearing a cute, summer dress with nude ballet flats.  She added a cute grey handbag (I like this one by Kate Spade)  and a simple chain necklace.  She has kept her hair off her face in the summer heat, pulling in back into a slick ponytail.
